tat lo pt 2

Some local kids saw jen with nail polish and were fascinated - soon she was surrounded and was doing both girls and boys. She hadf to get a system going involving a book for the table and rocks for seating! The kids also liked my tattoos and stroked me - which caught me off guard at first. We had an elephant ride but had forgotten to recharge the camera - an american lady got a snp and said she will email it.

Tat Lo, Bolaven Plateau

Coffee Country! It really is exquisite here, jen only drinks Hot Choc usually but has started enjoying during our visit here. this village was so rural - and all the animals were pregnant, piglets, puppies chics everywhere. Roaming free - unfortuantely not so keen on being photographed. This river amongst the hills was clean and cool
- many happy hours swimming.

Don Det, Si Phan Don

We stayed in this really rustic log cabin. No electricity, but 2 hammocks and a riverside location. It was fantastic laying out by candle light of an evening - it was so lazy there u felt u could float away
We had a beach party one night and went swimming (pictured below), but other than that not so many photos as we went kayaking, and forgot to take the camera when we toured the other island.

Savannakhet, Laos

Enjoying a bike ride, which was extremely hot but enjoyable. Also pur 8pm boat crossing to the island of Don Det - the stars were incredible! There is very few people and next to no electricity there so the sky is clearer than have ever seen before.

Brett enjoying 'local Pepsi', no real tast tho I am afraid. The Children below chanted 'Sadaidee, Sabaidee' as they followed. Apparently they were just pleased to see new people. Jen and I made a wish with our incense sticks in the local spot, also received a blessing and a wrist band. The lady issuing the blessings said ours was for fertility. I take it many peopel receive that particular blessing as Laos' production of children is second to none.

Below see a blow out on route - not for the first or last time.

Long Nom Lake Hike, Laos

Jen with some Lao snow, getting in the spirit! Not quite sure how a salt mine featured on a jungle hike but nevermind. Also Jen afraid of a particularly colourful spider and feeling confident in her ability to go the distance.

Last days, Vietnam

A variety of odd things here - temples, a typical road side dinner and the rock pile ( it was a pile of rocks as a result of the defoliants used by the US army - glad to see its recovered).

Hue, Vietnam

Hue had an old town surrounded by a wall and moat. We visited the Vinh Moc tunnels which a Vietnamese village lived in for 6 years to hide during the American war.

Hoi an, Vietnam

This small town had hundreds of tailors, art galleries and chinese influenced temples. It suffers flooding often, one art gallery on the river had been 2 metres under water a few weeks before. We saw traditional music and dance and a workshop in which lanterns, paintings and carvings were made.

more Nha Trang

Mama Linh's Boat trip. Went snorkelling and saw some brilliant sea life. Had some strange tasting wine on a floating bar and I was forced to do the Karaoke to Yellow Submarine-for the Brits- which I didn't know the words to.. shamed my country. Aussie ppl had to sing Waltzing Matilda.
